Baby as Art

We had a wonderful small group workshop this month with three little boys and one little girl! We originally had just the three boys, but we decided to have one our favorite newborn girls back for a few outdoor pictures at the end (I’m including pictures from both her session and her workshop modeling in this post). She was a week older, definitely bigger and had a new set of beautiful earrings, but she was just as sleepy as she had been for us during her first session. Actually, all of our little models were as sleepy as could be and we got so many great set-ups done! Our attendees always love the late afternoon outdoor segment. We venture out just as the light becomes golden outside. We are lucky here in San Diego, because the weather is fairly steady year-round and there’s only a couple of months where venturing outside is just too cold for the little ones! However, even in during a warm summer evening we always make sure the babies are nice and warm. Placing the baby in a basket, bucket, or box where only their face is exposed Is really the best way to keep the little love warm and comfortable. Hats are a great way to keep the baby’s head warm and they are always an adorable accessory. One technique we use to make sure the baby is always warm is to do the nose test: if you touch the baby’s nose and it’s cool to the touch, then the baby is likely getting cold. Even on the warmest days we limit our outdoor time to just a few minutes to minimize exposure to the outdoor elements. The babies always seem to enjoy some fresh air, though!
