Since the last post I did was for Mother’s day, I definitely had to follow up with a nice big tribute to all the Daddies out there keeping their sweet babies safe and sound! I love photographing new Dads and their babies as much as I love photographing the Mamas. It’s amazing to see the delicate and tiny babies embraced with the big and strong hands of their Daddies. For me, the contrast is truly captivating and it gives an amazing depth to the portraits. Not to mention that the image of a father and his new baby is always incredibly endearing. Lots of love and thanks to all the Dads out there including mine! Love you lots Dad!!!! I definitely wouldn’t be where I am today without your never-ending love, support and advice! I couldn’t have possibly gotten a better Daddy. Happy Fathers Day!

To me, combining baby and earth together is one of the most pure and organic art-forms imaginable. The possibilities created within this combination is immensly inspiring to me. I went into this session ready to continue my journey photographing newborns amongst the pure beauty of nature. It was a 32 hour round trip drive to Montana and then an additional 9 hour round trip to Glacier National Park. It was worth every minute of the drive, though. Photographing a newborn baby in front of a scene like this was an opportunity of a lifetime for me. I am immensely grateful for Lylee’s family for being so willing to drive their one week new baby 9 hours for just a 2 hour session. They were so helpful in assisting me in any way I needed as well. Together, we created some amazing pictures. I must also thank the most beautiful model, little Lylee. She was as sleepy as can be and even shared a few of those fleeting smiles that make all of our hearts swell with love. Photographing newborns outdoors has opened a whole new world to me and I hope this year has kicked off only the first in many more destination sessions to come! The yellow and grey headbands were made by the most wonderful Melanie Disbrow and can be purchased at her Etsy Shop! Lots more pictures due here on the blog. Lately we have been…. very busy!!!!

Notice that awesome old truck? That truck is now a permanent yard decoration behind Carrie’s house. It was towed over four hours away by one of our newest team members: Chelle Haney! If you have been in contact with Baby as Art’s workshop department lately then you have had the pleasure of talking with Chelle. Carrie and I are so excited to have her on the team and we know she is going to take very good care of all our attendees. Speaking of Workshops… we still have a few more openings for our April workshop. There are two dates currently available: April 24th and 25th as well as April 27th and 28th. Recognize those beautifully curly locks? Carrie and I photographed Shreyas at two months old… you can see those pictures on Carrie’s blog. We couldn’t believe how much he had grown in just a few short months! He is truly a beautiful baby and was so fun to photograph! The hair diptych turned out exactly how I imagined it would- I couldn’t be happier with it! Carrie and I are off to Denver today to photograph a couple of babies in front of a crowd! This is little Michael. Such a wonder to see. All of 6 months old and already crawling and pulling up. He amazes me!

Amaya was a wonderfully happy little soul and was full of adorable poses.  We started inside, but quickly found ourselves at our favorite outdoor area on a beautifully warm November day.
